*Note: All coursework must be completed prior to Sept 30, 2026 to receive a certificate or this fiscal year (FY26 Oct 1, 2025-Sept 30, 2026)

Home visits are conducted in client homes and typically done solo. Therefore, it is important that home visitors are prepared to protect themselves from potentially dangerous situations, and know how to diffuse, and get away from unsafe circumstances if needed. The safety of a home visitor is as important as the work they do. 

*This module contains all new content, so even if you’ve taken the home visitor safety training before, it is highly recommended that you complete this module as well. (Jan 2017)

Course Objectives: 

Upon completion of this training, home visitors will be able to:

  • Identify safety strategies that can be used before, during, and after the home visit
  • Recognize how to reduce tense situations, what to do in dangerous situations, and how to handle aggression
  • Recall safety tips regarding animals, disease, professional boundaries, parking and vehicle safety
  • Use technology to help remain safe

As the Instructional Design and Technology Specialist/Application Systems Analyst, Sr for the Arkansas Home Visiting Network Training Institute Mona develops technology-based instructional and informational materials and interventions applying adult learning principles. In addition to producing online content, Mona also manages the LMS, Thinkific, for our learners as well as provide reporting for continuing education credits.
